This is just the last newsletter pasted into the new template as I teach myself how things work over here.
The long awaited The King Teen Chapelboro Tour™ is upon us. That means I'll be playing two gigs in one night Wednesday (Jan 14 — in the past! This is the last warning of this type), one in Carrboro, the other in Chapel Hill. So it really should be the Carrpel Hill Tour or something, but that sounds like a wrist injury I had once and anyway the word Chapelboro's already in wide use so let's go with that
It all starts at 7:30 at Speakeasy Carrboro. This is a free show, which is why it's two for the price of one.
I'll be one of X North Carolina singer-songwriters in a Nashville-style round, where X is the number of us who actually show up. At the moment 13 is the leading candidate to be that number but these things can be fluid, and the number could be lower or higher. are in experimentation mode — a pop-up wardrobe turning ideas into outfits on camera, a lab that flips old tapes into new shorts, and an app that snaps b‑roll into stories with simple prompts.
Elsewhere, folks are trying odd formats; poems from browser tabs, leftover-to-leftover recipe chains, text-only newsletters, and platforms are testing calmer notifications so makers can actually focus.

We'll be up there in groups of 3 or 4, taking turns singing our songs and maybe telling the stories behind them, with me in the first group. I shared a flyer in the last newsletter but that was an unofficial one that I made. Here's the real one that I didn't make.
I think everyone listed will be there except Sticky Maze, who had to cancel.
When my round is over I'll be dashing, Phil Collins at Live Aid style, up the street a half mile* to The Cave in Chapel Hill for Danny Grewen and David Prather's monthly 2nd Wednesday show. That starts at 9, and they usually play first, so I'll be on sometime around 10 I guess.
* so the Concorde won't be necessary. (Huh?)
Also on the bill is Max Lane, a country singer-songwriter who I wasn't familiar with but whose stuff I've really been enjoying for the last week. Check this out:
And hey why not a flyer, because I spent upwards of four minutes artlessly modifying this old Blue Note record cover.

Thanks for reading, listening and coming on out.
Your friend,
The King Teen
